Canadian Enrolment Managers Have Expert Resource Close-by
with SEM WORKS' Senior Consultant

Greensboro, NC (Mar. 18, 2009) – Lynda Wallace-Hulecki, whose career spans more than 30 years in Canadian higher education, has been named Senior Consultant at SEM WORKS, one of North America’s leading full-service strategic enrolment management consulting firms. The addition of Wallace-Hulecki in the senior consultant role enhances SEM WORKS’ already strong enrolment management offerings to the Canadian market.

Since the firm’s founding in 2004, SEM WORKS has partnered with more than 300 institutions across North America, developing a unique niche in helping transform enrolment outcomes for Canadian colleges and universities. According to SEM WORKS President and CEO Dr. Jim Black, "While the U.S. and Canada share many commonalities, they differ in public attitudes and values regarding education, in higher education system structures and policy frameworks, and in the competitive higher education market context. SEM WORKS has extensive experience partnering with Canadian institutions, which is why we have brought on a Canadian-based senior consultant and key contact to serve our Canadian clients even more directly."

Wallace-Hulecki has led enrolment planning at both a research-intensive university and a four-year comprehensive college in Canada. Her experience also includes conducting research in an education branch of government. She has been consulting with SEM WORKS since 2007. Now, as a senior consultant, Wallace-Hulecki will deliver a specialized program that offers an integrated approach to academic and enrolment planning. Called the Integrated Planning Process, the program helps institutions align their enrolment strategies with their academic priorities and engage the academic community in enrolment planning. Ultimately, the focus is on the importance of creating the conditions for a student experience of distinctive excellence. "The Integrated Planning Process is integral to fostering a campus-wide shared responsibility for enrolment outcomes," says Wallace-Hulecki. "We customize it for each institution, providing the strategy and support for building a sustainable enrolment management program centered on student success."

Wallace-Hulecki cites several reasons for joining the SEM WORKS team. That the firm places enrolment strategies in an academic context is chief among them. "A differentiating feature of SEM WORKS is they understand that in order to implement a sustainable SEM program, it must be adopted as a shared responsibility across campus and rooted within the academic priorities of the institution. Many other EM consulting organizations focus solely on the business aspects of recruitment marketing and admissions," she says.

Wallace-Hulecki, who first worked with Black and his team when SEM WORKS consulted for one of the institutions at which she was an enrolment manager, can speak firsthand about the firm’s strengths. "I value SEM WORKS’ commitment to their clients. They are willing to work under flexible arrangements to meet an institution’s needs; they give advice that allows for immediate action and tangible, positive results; and their services are grounded in theory-based principles that underlie effective SEM practice."
