Summary

On February 11-13, 2008, the SAS corporate world headquarters in Cary, NC, once again provided the setting for the SEM WORKS Community College Enrollment Management and Student Marketing Symposium. More than 200 participants from across the nation and Canada attended this year's third annual event. SAS, the leading intelligence solutions software partner for educational institutions worldwide, joined SEM WORKS as sponsor and host with support from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) and the League for Innovation in the Community College.

The conference featured nationally-recognized experts who provided informative and engaging presentations. Topics included strategic enrollment planning, recruitment, branding and marketing strategies, and technology techniques. Discussions centered on the enrollment management and marketing needs and issues specific to the community college. A student panel discussion was also a highlight of the event, with students from Wake Technical College in Raleigh, NC, fielding questions from the audience. Group discussions and three exciting pre-conference workshops combined to make this year's program an invaluable professional development experience for all who attended.

Below are a few of the Symposium participants’ comments on their experience:

"I am leaving here highly motivated to be an agent of change on my campus."

"This is my second time to attend the Symposium. It is an awesome experience. The information presented by the faculty is interesting, informative, helpful, and useful."

"This conference is one of the most positive steps a college can take to engage staff in enrollment planning and management. It is appropriate for a wide range of departmental participation and almost all levels of staff. Colleges should bring teams!"

"The content and format (split into marketing and recruitment tracks) was perfectly suited to our needs. Thanks for a great conference experience!"
